Intraurethral Suppository
Intraurethral (or transurethral) suppositories are a non-surgical option for men with erectile dysfunction (ED). An applicator is used to place a pellet containing the medication alprostadil into the urethra which then dissolves and increases blood flow to the penis, creating an erection. MUSE® (Medicated Urethral Suppository for Erection) is currently the only intraurethral suppository approved by the FDA. MUSE® is available in 4 dosage strengths: 125 mcg, 250 mcg, 500 mcg, and 1,000 mcg. MUSE® is available in various strengths. Together, you and your doctor will determine the dose that is right for you.
Penile Implant
Penile implants are a permanent surgical option for men with erectile dysfunction (ED). Penile implants are surgically-placed medical devices that produce natural-looking and “- feeling” erections. There are two main types of penile implants: inflatable and semirigid (or malleable). Each type of penile implant comes in a variety of lengths and girths, work in different ways, and have their own pros and cons.
Oral PDE-5 Inhibitors
Phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5) inhibitors are the only FDA approved oral medications for the treatment of Erectile Dysfunction (ED). PDE-5 inhibitors are readily available with a prescription at retail pharmacies. These medications include sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis), vardenafil (Levitra), and avanafil (Stendra).
